Knowing if someone is right for you can be difficult. Compatible
Everything is going great – they’re cute, well mannered, and funny and then – one day – you find out something tragic. Like, maybe they say “suppos-e-bly” or you find out they stand up as soon as the plane lands even though they are in row 32 seat D.
It’s tough out here, ya’ll.
So, naturally, we look for help. Some sort of clue to help us understand who we should be looking for, who we’ll get along with, and who doesn’t think comic sans is an acceptable font choice.
That’s where signs tend to come into play. We think if they are a sagi-tari-capu-cornicus or whatever, that we will mesh just like the “universe” intended, because leos and libras are always doing that thing and ligers (I don’t know them all, is this one?) are insufferable. I do hate to be the one to inform you of this, but, you’re looking at the wrong sign.
As nice as it would be to be able to put all of humanity into little boxes -that’s not a thing.
We are who we choose to be. All of us. At every moment. Whether you were born in June or December, you are responsible for and in charge of the person you’re becoming and how you treat the rest of the folks out here in these dating streets.
Here’s the good news if you are a sign person, there are signs that really matter. Astrological ones just ain’t it. But if you are looking for a way to tell if he is really going to be worth your time – I’ve got one for ya that is always gonna be a solid way to see:
It’s laid out for us in Galatians 5:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Or, in another translation (ERV): 22 But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. 25 We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit.
Living – like visibly living – the fruit of the spirit is a great sign to look for. It is the literal evidence that someone is living according to the spirit, because without it these things are impossible to possess.
“The original Greek word for “Fruit” in Galatians 5 is karpos, and one definition means “a result of something.” When the Fruit of the Spirit is displayed in our lives, it is a sign, or result, that we are being led by the Spirit of God
Think of it like an orange – this is one fruit, made up of 9 slices – each slice must be present for a full fruit life. So he can’t have joy but not kindness. Or goodness but no self control. Each element is one part of a whole. Compatible
It is a fruit that does not discriminate – if he is kind to you but not others, that is not a fruit of the spirit. If he’s patient sometimes but flies off the handle or shuts down at his convenience that’s fruit, sis, just not the kind you want.
And, listen, none of us are perfect, but someone who is in pursuit of a mature faith is going to be aware of the fact that they are not having a full fruit moment at the time.
So, are you compatible with a fellow human? Well, are you both doing the work of dying to yourself daily so that the Holy Spirit can show up in your lives?
Is this human man living out love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?
When it involves you and when it involves others? When he’s upset or disappointed? When he’s bored? When other people are influencing him otherwise? When everything is going his way and when nothing is?
Welp. There’s your sign. Compatible
Forget the capri-leo-quarius ones. This is the most important.
