Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination![a] He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. Why You’re Settling and what to do about itEphesians 3:20 TPT
Does your imagination need healing?
That’s not something we consider.
I was recently in a situation where a fellow human was clearly settling, and not only settling, but sinning and settling. And, not only sinning and settling, but doing all that and calling it God.
Perplexed and upset, I asked God to give me an understanding for this person because my immediate response, being totally transparent, was anger & annoyance, not compassion or care. And this is what He spoke to me, but I thought perhaps you may need it, too – like I did: Why you’re settling and what to do about it
What are you settling for that’s not God’s best? If you are settling for less, for something your that pacifies your flesh when your spirit knows there’s better, you gotta ask yourself- is this current reality really above all I could ask, think or imagine?
Because the problem is not on the outside as so many of us like to think. Somewhere along the line – your imagination got broken. Your asker is off and your thinker is limited. You got hurt, betrayed, left, disappointed one too many times, and now you play it safe in your thought life. And, since all actions are thoughts first – this is particularly dangerous.
Is this, your current reality, really all you believe the God of the Universe- the one who hung the stars in the sky and made the sun stand still- you think this is all He’s got for you? You think this is all He can muster up? This is the absolute best He can do?
What happened to your ability to imagine and trust?
Adulting is so much more than culture makes it out to be. It’s more than just bills and body aches – though that’s certainly a part of the glorious experience of getting older 🙃
Adulting is moving towards maturity. That requires intention. Trusting God is not a cliché or brainless activity- it is a choice and an action. In fact, trust without action behind it is no trust at all.
Picture, if you will, that you and I are talking and I say, “ya know, I really wanna dye my hair red. I think it will be a good look for me.”
And you’re all, “yeah girl. You know I can do it for you if you trust me to.”
And I say, “of course I trust you! I’m just gonna go stick my head in a bucket of crayons instead tho and see where they gets me. But I totally trust you.”
Do I trust you? Uh…nah.
We do the same thing with God tho.
God’s out here tryna give you a filet mignon moment but you have a White Castle mentality so you settle for a crave case and and call it a miracle. Idk what dusty, busted god you’re serving, but my God can do sooooo much more!
Where are you settling and calling it God because you don’t think you’re worth more? Because you’ve been hurt before? Because you are impatient? Because you are lonely? Because you’re self-esteem has been damaged?
Are you settling in your relationships? Your finances? Your health?
Where in your life are you doing what makes you happy but does not make you well? (Link free chapter).
Are you actually trusting God or you just know that’s what you’re supposed to say to sound like a good Christian?
Do you believe that God is capable of going above and beyond what you can ask and imagine? If so, is this it? Is this all you can muster up to imagine? Why are you thinking so small? Ask Him to heal the part of your life that took your ability to imagine. Get free from only dreaming up the bare minimum for yourself.
